Good Vibes...

I'm in major need of a VACATION. However, I don't have time to take a real one any time soon, so I just booked myself and some friends a room at the ACE hotel in Palm Springs for a little "Daycation" next weekend.
This place is ridiculous. It's got such good vibes and a true 70's aesthetic I cannot wait to do nothing but lay out by the pool all day, sip on sweet mojitos and jam to some tasty tunes.

The hotel SCREAMS old vintage Palm Springs and it's right up (or down) my alley. I'm also thinking of proposing the idea of a future ANI. photoshoot there some day in the future. Seems like the perfect location to me.

Ch-ch-check it out...

Dirty Class...

"For the women who are like me. For the women who inspire me. Who aren't afraid to show some skin, walk around the pool sipping a martini in 5 inch heels, or run down the beach and surf for hours. I want the women who wear ANI. to not only make a statement, but to be the statement.

'Fashion fades, style is eternal.' Women who wear ANI. will be drawn to what I create because they have style, elegance, charm, and class. But they will not be afraid to get dirty, dance their booties off, and drink beer with the men.

We are not afraid of anything. We look good. We have fun. We travel the world and make memories no one will ever forget. We cause trouble and we don't care. Because at the end of the day, the best dressed wins."

Sample-making...

Sample making is such a tedious process. There is so much time, effort, and dedication that is put into creating a sample collection.
Start with an idea.
Sketch it out.
Take measurements.
Find Fabric.
Make a pattern.
Make a sample. Make changes. Perfect Sample.

I've made some more progress on my sample line. Little by little everything is coming together and I'm having so much fun going through the process. Another long week/end has gone by and I'm awaiting the day that school is over and I can switch my focus to 100% BIKINI.

I hate using cheesy photos of myself to show what I've done...but it's all I got so far. There is SO much more to come, but check it out in the mean time...

Looking Forward...

There's been a lot going on in the past couple weeks. Some good things, some not so good things, stresses, anxieties, and changes...hopefully all for the best. And it's time to focus on the good things to come and move on. I'm looking forward to...

Wednesday: my friends THE GROWLERS will be in town playing a show at The Beauty Bar. It has been a while since they were in town and I know they've been running around the country so it will be rad to cut loose and get wide.

Thursday: meeting with my good friend Kelly Robyn and chat with her about my upcoming photoshoot. Im hoping to rap out a series of good ideas to bring ANI. alive!
I will also be hanging out with my dear friend Kelli Murray (Larson) at an art/fashion show downtown. Project ETHOS. That should be a good time to catch up with old friends and hopefully meet some new people as well.

Friday: will be time spent with my dear girlfriends as well. Catching up over a few bottles of wine and just having a good time. Something I need desperately. Because then I will be locked in my house for the rest of the weekend working on my final SENIOR project for school...

Good things to come.

Who woulda thought...

Entertaining and informational.
We've come a long way since the "bikini" was introduced. Funny how so much inspiration comes from the earliest days of its existence. Must mean I'm on to something good..

oh.boy...

Boys are good for only a few things...one thing being inspiring style.
How great would it be to wake up each morning, throw on a pair of crazy shorts, white button down, and an over-sized blazer or sweater and call it a day? AND look like you spent hours on your outfit...

Boy. by Band of Outsiders has made it just that easy for us women. Combining sophisticated elegance with rugged "man"-appeal to make perfect little ensembles for us ladies. Im excited about it. Perfect "beachwear" to compliment the ANI. bikini...

i love...

this...tylerrose
and this...hotelbondi
and this...Japanese vogue
Because i spend most of my time researching swimwear...I come across a lot of inspiration. Things i like. Things i think i could make better. Things i don't like or understand at all. Im encouraged by people who love bikinis almost as much as i do.

Tomorrow I will be on my way to LA to meet my patternmaker again and fix up some samples. As well as give him new designs, ideas, and inspirations to work with. You could say that I feel a little overwhelmed by what the future brings, but I am also taking it all in and enjoying every minute of it. I don't want to miss out on anything. I don't want to over think anything. I feel like the best works come from inspiring thoughts. Write it all down. Draw it all out. Tell a friend. Keep the creative insanity flowing and it will all work out. It is all happening for a reason and I cannot wait to see the final outcome of all my hard work.
Find that groovy little thing and just go with it.

Spring is here...which means summer is fast approaching...which means it is time to drive with the windows down, spend less time on our hair, wear less make-up, and wear less CLOTHING!

Spring fashions are getting me SO excited! So many classy little ensembles that make dressing down, and dressing less, more fun.

One of my favorites for spring this year would be TROVATA. I stopped by their store in Newport Beach not too long ago and have fallen in love with their sophisticated, clean and classy style for both men and women. Some of my favorite looks for women:

HOLLY STALDER creates such amazingly detailed pieces. It is impossible to look at these spring pieces and not be blown away by the amount of time and intricate detailing goes into the production. AMAZING!

and of coarse anything Anthropologie...their Spring Swim line is amazing! as well as everything else right now. Just a few...

Cant wait for spring shopping :)
ANI. debut is fast approaching as well. Im so excited for the upcoming plans! Be on the lookout...www.anibreslin.com

Ooh the possibilities...

Today was cool. I spent a few hours this afternoon sifting through some pretty swanky little fabric stores around town and found some RAD pieces. I could have bought the place out if I had the funds. I love how happy I can become shopping for fabric and imagining the possibilities!

I cannot wait until these few yards of fabric become babe-licious bikinis...

Inspired.

My friend Amanda, who has been helping me out with the collection, as well as designing a few pieces of womenswear to go along with the bikinis, has come across a goldmine!
Her amazing mother and aunt have been able to conserve vintage YSL, MISSONI, and other French vintage pieces, including swimwear!
I had a blast trying on some of the swimwear which dates back almost 60 years, and I have been inspired once again to recreate an image that is timeless.

Here is one of the suits I tried on that with a few edits and minor design updates, will be a fancy addition to my collection :)

I love it. This is the exact reason I need to travel the world (again) and find a few hidden gems to inspire me for collections to come.
The time will come, I'm not worried about it. For now, I need to get back to WORK!
xo

Samples.

I've gotten a few samples back that need a few minor edits, but that im very happy with for the most part. Continuing on with baby steps I believe will ensure a perfect collection when it's complete. I have some pretty strict deadlines coming up as far as when and why I need to have a complete collection (i'll give more info on that when its closer to the deadline) so i think my baby steps need to become teenage steps...

Heres a few images of some samples I received.

These are not the final samples, but for a base pattern/design, it gives me a lot to work with. Im excited for more to come!

La Vie En Rose...

I am so into Louis Armstrong right now..actually, I'm always into Louis. He's got soul, and the man knows a thing or two about LOVE. Listening to his music over and over makes me want to slow dance in the middle of the street somewhere in paris while sipping on a glass of vino and enjoying having not a care in the world. He's inspiring.

*The video may be a little cheesy, but it puts the words into perspective.

Happy Easter...

“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”-Cecil Beaton

Today is Beautiful. What an amazing day to spend with friends and family.
